He attended Vassar College and graduated cum laude in 1983 with a degree in political science. Afterwards, he attended The University of Maryland School of Law where he was an assistant editor of the Maryland Journal of International Law and Trade. While attending law school, Mr. Axilbund served as an intern with the Enforcement Division of the Securities and Exchange Commission.Upon graduation, Mr. Axilbund worked at Shapiro & Olander (now Shapiro Sher Guinot & Sandler) doing family law and insurance regulatory litigation. Afterwards, he worked for a United States Bankruptcy Trustee, conducting bankruptcy hearings at the Garmatz Federal Courthouse in Baltimore. In 1992, Mr. Axilbund opened his own practice, and today focuses exclusively on family law issues. In 2011, he and his law partner, Jennifer Anderson, formed Anderson & Axilbund, LLC with the goal of providing top-tier legal services to clients in cases involving divorce, separation, custody, child support, and the division of marital assets.Mr. Axilbund is licensed to practice law in the State of Maryland and in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.
